IT'S SHOWTIME FOLKS

BLITZ RADIO THEATRE

Back in the 20th century there was an invention called, "radio." Long before the days of smart phones, tablets, microwave ovens and yes, even television, radio was king. This is where the people would gather any and all information about the world outside of their home. Aside from being a source of news, and weather reports, radio began to become one of the major sources of entertainment.

In fact, many of the biggest names in show business came from radio. Abbott & Costello, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Groucho Marx, and the list goes on. Well, during the 1970's there was a resurgence of interest in radio plays. Mystery radio in particular. In fact, as a teen I would sometimes curl up in bed early on a Sunday evening to listen to E.G. Marshall and the CBS Radio Mystery Theatre. Having always been interested in every form of show business, I was fascinated by the voice acting, the story telling, and the creepy music that made you want to sleep with the light on.

Often, I missed those days, and wished they would return.

When we launched the Blitz in 2013, a regular listener, messaged me regularly informing me, how much he loved the station but wished I would bring back Mystery Radio Theatre. But not the shows from the 1970s. New shows. Well, that got us thinking, as being a former theatrical producer, why not take many of the shows we did for our comedy theatre and turn them into radio theatre productions. And in January of 2017 we went into production on our first show.

"Baby I'm Yours." and original comedy I wrote for the stage in 2002.

We thought it best to start with something funny, and with a smaller cast. Just to you know, get our feet wet, see how we do. I'm happy to report just this week, we have finished the first edit of the play and are now moving into final production. We are launching an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to create a collector CD of the show along with some amazing Blitz rewards.

Baby I'm Yours will serve as the first of a season of shows, and yes, this will include Mystery shows as well. So bookmark our page and keep a watchful eye out for Blitz Radio Theatre.
